Back to the Beginning

OK, so yesterday's post was not exactly self portrait, more of a portrait of self.

To make amends a small story.

I cannot remember why but I had thought about learning to dive for some time, one day that little voice in the head got heard, the one that tells you that you only had one life and you you don't know how long that is going to last so you best do something now. A few trips to a deep swimming pool, the odd mishap like taking in water instead of air survived and then out into the sea from a local beach, freezing cold and no gloves to wear. My first proper dive was to sunken boat, 18m down. I remember very clearly hanging on to a line, waiting to ascend, looking down at the ship below watching other divers float over her. I regretted not having a camera for that memory. The next time I had a chance to dive in clear water I bought a disposable underwater film camera and discovered how hard it is to shoot underwater, this photograph was one of the shots on that film. Although perhaps nothing special I like the feel of it, back to the days of film, a different quality to digital, a bit like vinyl over CDs, technically inferior but with a feel that cannot quite be replicated. No masterpiece but a memento for me :-)

Quite a few people posted who they were yesterday, who am I ?
I am just a person who goes diving occasionally, it's time to ascend now.
